Questions by voice
How a sidekick asks you something out loud, and how to answer.
When Claude needs a decision it uses the AskUserQuestion tool, which normally opens a dialog. In talk mode the sidekick reads the question and its numbered options aloud and listens for your answer.
❓ Deploy where? 1) Staging 2) Production
🔊 Rudy is speaking… "Deploy where? 1: Staging. 2: Production."
🎙 listening…Ways to answer
| Say | Picks |
|---|---|
| "the second one", "two", "the last one" | By position |
| "production", "staging please" | By name, or any distinctive word of the label |
| "yes", "sure", "go ahead" | The option that reads like yes, run, proceed, or the recommended one |
| "no", "skip", "cancel" | The option that reads like no, cancel, skip or refuse |
| "one and three" | Several, when the question allows more than one |
| "call it release candidate two" | Free text, when nothing matches and you said three or more words |
You can answer while the question is still being read; the first words that aren't the sidekick's own cut the speech.
When it doesn't understand
It asks once more, "Sorry, which one?", then opens the normal dialog and tells you to pick with a key. Nothing is chosen for you.
Outside talk mode
The dialog opens as usual, headed with the sidekick's name. Only the heading changes.
